My Rating System
Things I look at When Reviewing a Book
❥ The Plot - originality, development, pacing, believability.
❥ The Writing - spelling/grammar, sentence/chapter flow, descriptions/word use.
❥ The Characters - character development, emotions I feel for the characters, relatability, range of characters.
❥ The Romance (Spice/Smut) - balance of plot/spice, pacing, how it makes me feel, is it cringy?
When reviewing a book, I look at more than just if I liked it or not! The quality of the writing, development of the story, and relatability of the characters have a huge impact on a reader's experience. A well written book can make you feel every emotion. You feel as if you are experiencing it personally. In comparison, a poorly written book, no matter how unique and intriguing the story, can leave the reader with a bitter taste causing them to DNF or give a bad review.
Star Ratings
⭐️ DNF - if I DNF a book I don't really rate it because I don't think any book deserves one star. Just because it isn't for me doesn't make it a bad book.
⭐️⭐️ Bad writing, spelling/grammar issues, the story doesn't flow, lots of plot and character holes, I wouldn't recommend.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Okay writing, unoriginal, some cringe moments and less relatable characters, I wouldn't recommend it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Good writing, enjoyable story and characters I liked. I might recommend.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely blew my mind and I can't stop thinking about it, I felt like I was living in the book, highly recommend, special place in my library. Will probably re-read!
